Exports to Mexico slide while the rest of Arizona trade grows

Arizona exports to Mexico continued their over-the-year losing streak in January, falling by 9.3% to $644.7 million. Exports to Canada managed to grow a notable 5.8% to $243.0 million, starting the year off strong.

Imports from both Mexico and Canada saw sizeable increases in the first month of 2024. Arizona imports from Mexico saw a 10.3% increase to $1.2 billion, and imports from Canada similarly saw an increase of 17.1% to $209.2 million.

Commodity flows through Arizona’s BPOE experienced a decrease in exports and a strong increase in imports in January. Over the year exports slid 7.0% to $967.0 million, while imports increased a sizeable 26.4% to $2.4 billion.
