Aerospace Products and Parts Manufacturing Employment
Why track Aerospace Manufacturing?
The aerospace product and parts manufacturing sector represents one of the fastest growing industries in the manufacturing production system between the NAFTA partners. The U.S.-Mexico Border States in particular make efforts to take advantage of production sharing capacities in Mexico and build trans-border industry clusters. Dynamics of Arizona’s employment in this industry sector provide a measure of Arizona capacity to build and sustain an emerging trans-border industry cluster. In combination with the dynamics of Sonora’s IMMEX employment, the indicator provides insight into the capacity of Arizona and Sonora to compete in the NAFTA area and globally as an integrated bi-national region with respect to aerospace product and parts manufacturing.
What is measured?
Aerospace product and parts manufacturing includes employment identified as Industry Group 3364 in the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). This includes activities such as aircraft products and parts manufacturing, aircraft engine and engine parts manufacturing, other auxiliary equipment, and guided missile and space vehicle as related manufacturing.
