October 2023 Trade Data Summary
Arizona exports drop while imports continue to rise
Arizona exports to Mexico continued their over-the-year losing streak in October, falling by 7.2% to $691.2 million, but rising to its highest level since May. Exports to Canada saw a significant over-the-year decrease in October, falling 23.0% to $198.1 million.
On the import side, Arizona experienced an 11.4% over-the-year increase in imports from Mexico, totaling $946.5 million. Imports from Canada saw a more moderate increase, rising 1.8% to $214.8 million.
Commodity flows through Arizona’s BPOE experienced strong growth in both over-the-year exports and imports. Exports in October were up 7.8% to $1.1 billion compared to the previous year, while imports saw a notable 24.4% increase to $2.2 billion.
