August 2023 Trade Data Summary
Arizona trade with Canada and imports from Mexico grew, while exports to Mexico sank
Arizona exports to Mexico decreased significantly by 15.2% over the year in August, totaling $668.9 million. Exports to Canada increased by 6.5% over the year to $203.4 million, with each month so far this year showing continuous over-the-year improvement.
On the import front, Arizona experienced a 9.3% increase in imports from Mexico, totaling $844.5 million. Imports from Canada also rose impressively by 17.0%, hitting $237.5 million.
Commodity flows through Arizona’s BPOE experienced a decrease in exports and strong gains in imports. Exports in August were down 4.0% over the year to $1.0 billion. Imports were up 18.0% compared to August 2022, ascending to $1.7 billion.
