The Arizona-Mexico Economic Indicators: Arizona's Trade and Competitiveness in the U.S.-Mexico Region, Annual Report 2021, released July 10, 2021, summarizes key trends for the decade 2010-2020 and examines the impacts of the 2020-2021 COVID-19 recession on Arizona's trade performance. This analysis was completed in June 2021, at this time monthly data through April 2021 had been released. This release of April 2021 data allowed the authors to evaluate the recovery so far by comparing the bottom of the pandemic crash in April 2020 to some very dramatic increases that appeared in the April 2021 data. Stay tuned to the website during 2021 for updates. While important trade measures have improved dramatically, there is still quite a bit of uncertainty in the forecast and some important trading patterns seem to have shifted as well.  As with the website, the Annual Report  highlights Arizona's performance relative to other border states. Indicators and trends for U.S. and Mexico border states are bench-marked against national figures for the U.S. and Mexico.
