Arizona exports fall while imports show impressive growth

Arizona exports to Mexico continued their streak of over-the-year decreases in September, falling 16.2% to $663.3 million.  Exports to Canada saw a minor decrease over the year in September, falling 0.5% to $196.3 million.

On the import front, Arizona experienced a 15.1% increase in imports from Mexico, totaling $835.2 million. Imports from Canada also rose significantly by 14.1%, hitting $229.5 million.

Commodity flows through Arizona’s BPOE experienced a decrease in over-the-year exports and strong gains in imports. Exports in September were down 2.1% to $988.4 million compared to last September, while imports saw a strong 17.2% increase to $1.9 billion.
